Davido Fights his Business Partner over Peruzzi & Chioma

There seems to be an impending trouble brewing in the DMW camp over one of its artistes, Peruzzi. This was sparked off when label boss Davido attacked his business partner on the Peruzzi deal, Patrick Anyaene of GoldenBoy Entertainment. The deal between Davido Music Worldwide and GoldenBoy Entertainment was said to be a joint deal, as all Peruzzi’s released material post signing carry both companies logos as well as his official social media pages.

Patrick had commented on an Instagram news post of Ghanaian actor Fred Nuamah buying his wife a brand new Porsche Cayenne Turbo saying;

At least we will see her driving it… Unlike… Cough Cough… Pls make her plate number “REALITY”

Not one to take such lightly, Davido had replied almost instantly saying;

@kingpatrickgb sorry my woman can’t drive yet.. plus she hates the attention and only uses my driver when she really needs to use the car and I haven’t had time to teach her to drive.. but maybe a driver will do.. u can apply

Patrick then went on his Instastory to blast both Davido and Peruzzi accusing the former of lying about acquiring a private jet and also boasting that he (Davido) would have not had a hit song if not for him, most likely referring to “Fia”, “Flora My Flawa” etc. which were rumoured to be penned by Peruzzi. It should also be noted that Peruzzi caught the attention of Davido from his LK Kuddy assisted single “For Your Pocket” released on GoldenBoy Ent.; before he featured on the remix of said song and welcomed Peruzzi into his camp. We know we have not heard the last of this as this story is in the early stages and still developing!

I Rate Myself Higher Than Femi Adebayo – Yemi Solade

It was a battle for the best actor from the Yoruba movie industry which ended in a hilarious note afterwards due to the professionalism of the nominees.

A drama unfolded at this year’s edition of the Best of Nollywood Awards ceremony when Yemi Solade and Femi Adebayo were both announced as the winner of the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Yoruba).

When it was time to take the award home, people wondered who would make the sacrifice and leave it for the other. Eventually, Yemi Solade asked Adebayo to take the plaque home.

Speaking with Sunday Scoop, Solade stated that he gave the plaque to Adebayo because he (Adebayo) lived in Ibadan, the host state for this year’s BON. He said, “I wasn’t surprised that the movie, Irolabi, did well. When I saw it, I thought I did a lot of work. When they announced two persons as the winners of that category, it was like a comedy but I guess they have their reasons. I gave the plaque to Adebayo since he stays in Ibadan. If they make another award, I will collect it. But I enjoyed the fact that I won the best actor and it is now part of my CV.”

Solade admitted that the category was very competitive, saying the other nominees, such as Bolanle Ninalowo and Adebayo, had a good year too. He said, “It was a competitive one but I think I deserved it and I needed the award as a reward for my effort this year. Some people felt I was old but it was about the role, not the age. I was given a role by a producer, Lekan Quadri, who I didn’t know before. Though we shared the award, I still rate myself higher than Adebayo because he played the lead role in his movie, Etiko Onigedu.”

I Did Not Copy Davido Or Simi’s Songs – Jaywon

Jaywon has claimed that he has never had to steal or copy from any artistes before, but rather, some artistes do copy from him.

Singer, Jaywon, practically lost his cool online when a follower alleged that he no longer stole songs but their titles. The follower went on to give alleged examples of Jaywon’s songs such as Joromi, Saro and Aje, which share titles with tracks by other artistes.

However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Jaywon gave an explanation. He said, “The matter is actually very simple. The same title does not mean the same content and we all know that. It’s like someone telling me that I should sue Small Doctor because he released a song named, This Year, when I had put out a record with the same title years earlier. Wizkid and Davido both have songs named, Gbon Gbon, but years before either of them, I had released a hit song with the same title.

“My song, Aje, is about trade because that’s what the title means in Yoruba language. If you have listened to the Davido Music Worldwide song, you can clearly tell that apart from the title, they don’t have anything in common.

“A lot of the time, some people just want to talk and get your attention by force. I hope he (the follower that made the comment) is enjoying the fame. What he said was very wrong. As far as I am concerned, I have never copied anyone; rather people copy me and they’ve been doing that for a long time. Because I don’t talk doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m doing.”

Jaywon also maintained that he would have released his song, Joromi, earlier than Simi put out a track of the same title. “I was actually supposed to release my song, Joromi, before hers. However, I attended her album listening party (before the album was released) and she sang the song. I then figured that since she was going to release the single accompanied by an album, the buzz would likely overshadow mine; so, I decided to wait for some time before putting out my song. I did not copy anyone. It is only the song titles that are similar, not the content.
