Check Out The Huge Bonus The Super Falcons Will Get If They Beat South Africa In AWCON Final

The Super Falcons have been promised a huge bonus should they manage to beat South Africa in the AWCON final.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has opted to double the winning bonus of the Super Falcons as a big incentive ahead Saturday’s 11th Women Africa Cup of Nations Final against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa in Accra, ThisDay reports.

President of the NFF, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, made the pledge when he met with the players and officials at the AH Hotel, Accra on Thursday, as he delivered the good wishes of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) and the football –loving populace of Nigeria to the Cup holders.

The Falcons had earned $3,000 for a win in the group phase but were earmarked for $5,000 each for victory in the Final.

“I want to let you know that the Government and the good and great people of Nigeria are happy with your performance in the championship so far. They are looking forwards to you retaining the trophy by beating South Africa on Saturday.

“Let me commend the lofty commitment, dedication and resilience that you have displayed so far in the championship, alongside that unique Nigerian spirit that was most in evidence against the Cameroonians in the semi final. You are indeed true champions, and we believe you will retain the Cup on Saturday. Go out there and win on Saturday and earn yourselves $10,000 each, as against the $5,000 that the NFF earlier promised.”

The two captains, Onome Ebi and Rita Chikwelu on behalf of the team expressed gratitude to His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), the NFF, the Nigeria media and football –loving Nigerians at home and in the diaspora for their support to the team, and pledged that they will overcome the Banyana Banyana in Saturday’s final in order to return to Nigeria with the trophy.

Ebi said: “We have the World Cup ticket now, which was always our first target here. The second is winning the Cup for a third successive time and ninth time overall. It is a mission we are determined to accomplish on Saturday.”

Nigeria defeated South Africa 2-0 in the final of the second edition of the competition in Johannesburg in 2000, to retain the Cup they had won at the inaugural edition in Nigeria two years earlier.

Emery reveals number of players Arsenal will sign in January 

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has disclosed that the club will sign a centre-back when the transfer window opens in January.

Emery said this ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with Qarabag FK on Thursday night.

The Spaniard believes it would be a ‘good option’ for the Gunners to sign a centre-back after the North London club have had trouble with the position so far this season.

“I think if we can take one player to help us at centre-back, I think it’s a good option,” Emery was quoted by Daily Cannon as saying in a pre-match press conference.

“The transfer window is not easy. Laurent Koscielny is coming back and for the team, it’s very important he is coming back.

Emery added: “Another option we can play with two, with three, and (full-backs) Nacho Monreal and (Stephan) Lichtsteiner can play in this position.

“I prefer to use, if we can, a specialist centre-back.”

Barca could be ready to take their former star Neymar back, and send the talented but problematic Dembele back to his home country

Barcelona and PSG have discussed a ​swap of Neymar in exchange for Ousmane Dembele and cash, according to Le10Sport.

Manchester United’s Eric Bailly is seen as the most ambitious target, but they are also eyeing up Chelsea’s Gary Cahill, who has been told he will have to find another club if he wants to play. Meanwhile, Fernando Calero of Real Valladolid is another possible signing for Unai Emery’s team.

Former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure hopes to return to the Premier League after being released by Olympiakos.

Former Super Eagles striker Obinna Nsofor celebrates as he becomes a citizen of Italy 

Former Super Eagles and Inter Milan striker, Obinna Victor Nsofor, has been granted Italian Citizenship.

The 31-year-old Nigerian footballer who last played for South African Premier Soccer League side Cape Town City took to his Instagram page to celebrate after becoming a citizen of Italy.

Sharing a video of himself dancing while showing his Italian passport, Nsofor who is based in Italy wrote:

‘I want to thank God almighty for doing this for me ?? thank you Jesus for loving me so well?? I also want to appreciate everyone that has help me in one way or the other to achieve this, I’m grateful, and to my lovely queen @anastasija_radi thank you always for making me smile, I love you ??.’
