Alex Iwobi signs new long-term Arsenal deal

Alex Iwobi has signed a new long -term deal at Arsenal , the Premier League club announced on Friday .

Arsenal did not specify the length ofo the deal for the 22 -year-old Nigeria international, who came through the ranks with the Gunners, but reports said it would run until 2023.

Midfielder Iwobi scored three goals in 26 league games under the now-departed Arsene Wenger last season .

“ It ’s always been my childhood dream to represent Arsenal , ” he told Arsenal Player . “ To get an extended contract is an amazing feeling and I hope I’ m doing the Arsenal family proud, as well as my family .” Iwobi , the nephew of Nigeria great Jay-Jay Okocha , played in three of his country’s matches at the World Cup in Russia.

“ I’ m very pleased Alex has signed a new contract with us, ” said new boss Unai Emery.

“ He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the academy through hard work and I look forward to working with him and our other talented young players in the squad.

Former Super Eagles and Inter Milan striker, Obinna Victor Nsofor, has been granted Italian Citizenship.

The 31-year-old Nigerian footballer who last played for South African Premier Soccer League side Cape Town City took to his Instagram page to celebrate after becoming a citizen of Italy.

Sharing a video of himself dancing while showing his Italian passport, Nsofor who is based in Italy wrote:

‘I want to thank God almighty for doing this for me ?? thank you Jesus for loving me so well?? I also want to appreciate everyone that has help me in one way or the other to achieve this, I’m grateful, and to my lovely queen @anastasija_radi thank you always for making me smile, I love you ??.’

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo wedded his lovely spouse, Ebhota Bethel in a quiet traditional wedding ceremony in Warri, Delta State Completesportsnigeria. com.

The ceremony had in attendance Etebo’s nuclear family and friends at the bride family house in Warri CSN gathered.


Etebo who is currently on the books of Stoke City explained to Completesportsnigeria.com why he chose the Bethel.

“She has been there for me and she’s the mother of my son,” Etebo told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“We barely had time to do this and I felt it was necessary to get the marital rites done with before the year ends.”

Etebo joins the host of Super Eagles players to have quit bachelorhood.

Players like Kenneth Omeruo, John Ogu, Ogenyi Onazi, Willaim Troost Ekong, Odion Ighalo, Moses Simon, Elderson Echieijile, Ahmed Musa, Abdulahi Shehu are the few who are married in the squad.

The 23-year-old star will not be available for Stoke City trip to Villa Park to face Aston Villa on Saturday due to suspension.


The Nigerian international has played 14 English Championship games for the Potters since he joined the club in the summer.

I’ve Always Loved Madrid, I Don’t Want Any Regrets – Hazard Speaks On Chelsea Future


Belgium star, Eden Hazard who is ‘torn’ between extending his Chelsea contract and pursuing a dream move to Real Madrid, has said that he doesn’t want regrets as he considers his future.

Eden Hazard says he does not “want to have any regrets” as he considers whether to sign a new contract with Chelsea or leave Stamford Bridge, according to Sky Sports.

The Belgian forward has 18 months remaining on his Chelsea deal, and has openly questioned whether he is willing to extend his stay with the Blues.

Hazard has also made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid, and when discussing his future with French-Monegasque radio station RMC, said: “The new (Chelsea) coach (Maurizio Sarri) thinks football like me, so we’ll see.

“The family is in London, I’m also going to be 28. I do not want to have any regrets at the end of my career.

“It’s a decision I’m going to make, I do not know when, but I’ll take it. You know me, I’ve always loved Real, even before (Zinedine) Zidane. We’ll see what happens.

“As I said, I’m already finishing this year with Chelsea, I still have a year of contract after this year.”
