The leadership was warmly welcome and recieve in good arms by the commission’s P.R.O who in turn led the whole leadership to the attentive and ever responsive Commissioner of police, CP Olawale Olokode.
The leadership was recieved by the Commissioner who express his dissatisfaction in faction and call for unity among the student’s leaders in the zone, he further responded to the agitation of the coordinator in regards to the threat to life made by known thugs parading themselves as a factional government and agreed that petition should be submitted with evidences against such, as he would never condone violence in student struggle.
He further stressed, that no life is worth losing as leadership at this stage is only a stepping stone to greater heights.
The leadership through her P.R.O Comr. Esiegbe Emmanuel O, further demanded that the murder case of Adegoke Timothy, an MBA student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State who was gruesomely murder at the Hilton Hotel, Ife be discussed, as the leadership will never permit any quarter whatsoever to sweep the case under the carpet.
The CP in his response reiterated that the case is beyond one which can be swept under the carpet as it is now an issues of national concern as the case has been transferred to the Intelligent Response Team in Abuja for further investigation. Nevertheless, he made it know that seven pathologist were allowed to carry out autopsy on the body of deceased with two from the suspect’s family, two from the family of the deceased and three from the government, and that all exhibits as regarding the case are intact and every suspects in question are still being investigated and none had been released, he also assure the zonal leadership that justice will be served as no stone will be left unturned.
The Coordinator of the Zone, Comr Tegbe Stephen Fiyinfoluwa further charge the CP on security consciousness around student’s community in the state, and the orientation and enlightenment of the Nigeria Police Force men who are out on daily basis, as the leadership will not condone harrasment, extortion and any illegal activities on the part of the NPF, this in a bid to avert any face off between students and the commission.
The vote of thanks was made by the Chief of Staff to the Zonal Coordinator, Comr Salami who appreciate the CP for his swift response to student’s activities and it’s community and charge him to keep up the good work.
